Modica was a Seattle-based startup transforming factory automation by creating modular, self-contained microfactories inside shipping containers. These compact, scalable systems allowed for flexible, location-independent manufacturing.

WHAT WAS MY ROLE?

Filling gaps in Prototyping, Organization, and Efficiency

As a interdisciplinary problem-solver, I played a critical role in filling in any of the needed roles for Modica's smooth operation. In a fast-paced, resource-constrained startup, I stepped into many roles to keep projects moving forward.

• 3D Printing Optimization: Developed and implemented a structured 3D printing schedule, categorizing prints into daytime runs and combined overnight batches. This system significantly increased output without disrupting machine availability during working hours.
• Prototyping & Modeling: Designed and iterated 3D models in SolidWorks, rapidly prototyping components using 3D printer. I tested multiple iterations, refining designs to enhance both functionality and manufacturability.
• Shop Organization & Workflow Improvement: As an early-stage startup, Modica’s workspace needed structure. I reorganized the shop layout, optimized tool placement, and streamlined workflows, improving overall efficiency for the team.
